Center of American Indian and Minority Health

HOPE Clinic

  • Free, student-run clinic that is operated by medical and pharmacy students from the University of Minnesota Medical School, Duluth campus
  • Family medicine faculty serve as directors of the clinic

Whiteside Institute for Clinical Research

  • Supports patient-oriented clinical research with emphasis in the areas of cancer, lung, and heart diseases
  • A joint effort between the University of Minnesota Medical School, Duluth campus and St. Luke's health care system
  • Duluth campus chair Ruth Westra, DO, MPH, and faculty Jennifer Pearson, MD, serve on committees
  • Medical students are welcome to shadow clinical research staff or volunteer within Whiteside
