Pediatric Neuropalliative Care

Duration, description, and call

  • Duration: four weeks
  • Required for pediatric-focused fellows
  • Work in an interdisciplinary inpatient and outpatient palliative care clinic
  • Perform comprehensive palliative care assessments and develop palliative plans of care for patients referred to the clinic
  • See new consults for pain, symptom management, support, or advance care planning in the context of rehabilitation medicine, complex chronic conditions, severe/advanced illness, and follow-ups from patients initially evaluated in acute care hospitals or other care environments
  • Usually sees one new consult and two to four follow-ups per half-day in clinic and two to four inpatients during team rounding
  • Call responsibilities at Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota
