We are one department reaching across two campuses: Twin Cities and Duluth.

Our central administrative offices and the majority of its programming are located on the Twin Cities campus. The Duluth campus focuses on training physicians who will practice in rural and Native American communities.

We are part of the University of Minnesota Medical School. The department was created more than 45 years ago in response to a legislative mandate to train primary care physicians. Since then, we have been leaders in transforming the specialty through education, research, and patient care.
